What is a monthly Mb allowance?
Each time your site is accessed, data is transferred across the internet to or from your account. These data packets are added together to give a usage figure in Megabytes (Mb). This is the bandwidth that you are using. Your package gives you a monthly bandwidth allowance that you can use. If you go over your monthly allowance we reserve the right to impose a small surcharge on this extra bandwidth used. Using extra bandwidth is a good sign though, as you are getting more site traffic and therefore hopefully more people coming to visit you in person!
What is site traffic?
Site traffic is the amount of visits to your site. The more traffic to your site, the more visitors you have.
What is the back-up frequency?
All the servers are backed up every 24 hours. They all run a RAID disk failure system which basically means that your site is always mirrored on another drive on the server, in case one drive is corrupted. Additionally, all data is backed up to a standby server in another location
What is virtual Hosting?
This means that we buy server space on a commercial business server and then host your site on that server. We could not afford to purchase servers to host the sites that we develop. These commercial servers host 1,000's of site and this makes it economical for us to rent just the space that we need to host sites for our business.
What servers do you use?
Nice fluffy hairy ones.
These are dual processor with dual 100Mbit Ethernet adapters and with a minimum of 1 gigabyte of memory. Storage is spread across multiple Ultra 160 SCSI hard disks using Adaptec RAID controllers. Software is UNIX and includes a system derived from Apache and a qmail mail server.
